1)Talk about what it means to pray and communicate with God. Tell them that prayer is a way for them to communicate with God who is their heavenly father. Let them know that their heavenly father loves them unconditionally and would love to hear from them, and also love to speak to them. Let them know that He has beautiful plans for their lives and would love to connect to them through prayers, and study of His words in scriptures. Let them know that daily prayer and study of the scripture will improve their connection with Him.
Teach your children that they can pray anytime, and in any situation; when they are happy, in difficulties, or unwell, and that they can even ask for forgiveness for harmful things they have done.
2)Consider the Lord’s Prayer as a model for what to include in your prayers. Even though some of them could be challenging for children to understand. This prayer contains all the components of a strong prayer. Request that they make an effort to include a confession, an act of gratitude, a prayer request, and some form of praise in their daily prayers.
