Mothers prioritize the needs of everyone in the family over their own. Moms are caregivers, teachers, cooks, and the ones who make sure everyone in the house is okay. But, in the midst of it all, most mothers feel unnoticed, unheard, and unappreciated. Most mothers feel uncared for because no one in the family appears to notice that mothers have needs and deserve to be cared for. When this is left unattended for an extended period, it makes such a mother unhappy. This may eventually result in depression.
What do you do when you feel this way?
Say ‘No’ when you need to
Most mothers believe that it is their responsibility to do everything that they are asked to do, or available to do. Mothers can better manage their energy levels and avoid burnout by prioritizing their own needs and well-being. According to ‘Very Well Mind’, mothers who believe in this, would always do more tasks than their strength can carry, and as a result, feel unappreciated and resentful of all they do for their family. This fosters a more sustainable and fulfilled motherhood experience. Saying ‘No’ when you need to;
-Increase appreciation: Contrary to popular belief, saying “no” can result in increased appreciation from loved ones. When mothers prioritize and set boundaries, their contributions are more easily valued and recognized.
-Encourage quality time: When mothers say “no” to unnecessary tasks, they make room for more meaningful interactions with their families. This enables more meaningful connections and more enjoyable experiences.
Mothers need to know that saying “no” to someone is an act of self-respect and empowerment. It enables us to make informed decisions that prioritize our health and set healthy boundaries.
