My Journey Without A Father Since The Age Of 5 – Veekee James

Published on

Veekee James, a fashion designer, has opened up about her life.

She then disclosed that God’s hand and grace are at work in her life.

Veekee promised during her appearance on The Nancy Isime Show that she would never forget her past.

She disclosed that she was raised in Ajegunle and was fatherless from the age 5.

“The reason I told that story at the event where I went to speak publicly was because of the content that my husband and I posted on social media.

“The comments I got, I saw people on Twitter saying stuff like, ‘So you built your brand for five years, you know, you got this base where you’re making dresses for people with money and people with class. And then you just go and taint that class with that kind of classless video,” she said.

According to her, the backlash reminded her of how far she had come.

“It just brought me back to the fact that if it were by human power, I would not be where I am today. I’m here because God made it possible. I was just a girl who grew up without a father from the age of five. I had to walk my way up here.”

“We’re here because we started from somewhere. You know I cannot change, and now I try to be the girl who did not grow up in Ajegunle just to, you know, fit into that class that people want me to be. I’m never going to be that person. I’m always going to be me, and that’s why I’m Veekee James, I’m not any other fashion designer,” she said.
