Like young lions laying in ambush ready to attack their prey is the kind of scenario we see in today’s gospel, Jesus entered the synagogue on a sabbath and healed a man with a withered hand. With a story like this one can say with the psalmist if I forget you Jerusalem let my right hand withered. In spite of the evil that was brewing in the hearts of men, God wants to show us that he has come to save us from all forms of evil. With Christ’s interrogation, they would not speak and in healing the man they were puzzled. At the command of Jesus, the man stretched out his hand and he was restored back as child of God but immediately they laid in ambush for they could not perceive this with eyes of faith; they are baffled by the wonders of God.
Christ went about doing good . He told the man to stretch out his withered hand. There are so many opportunities that we come our way that we need to extend our hands to. Let us grasp the opportunity to do good, even if it comes across as unseemly or untimely. There are many opportunities, both great and small, for us to do good and to save life. There are many people of good faith, even if their faith is not ours, with whom we can work to achieve good and promote life. And there is no need to wait, such waiting may be too vain. We have the power of Christ. We have the key in our hands. Jesus is the key that makes our lives better.
