“Mrs Obaseki, the first lady, saying our candidate has no wife. I’m sorry she had to say that because here is a woman who has no child. Between her and Obaseki, they are childless. They are not even ready to adopt,” Oshiomhole said.
“I don’t blame anybody who doesn’t have a child but people who have love for children go to a motherless home and adopt. They have not adopted. They are both in their sixties.”
Choosing to have children is a personal decision that should be respected!
It was unwise for a former Leader of the Nigeria Labour Congress and a former Governor like Sen. Adams Oshiomhole to act as a spokesperson for a gubernatorial candidate.
Regretfully, some people are unable to understand the implications of Adams Oshiomhole’s actions. If Edo women don’t strongly condemn this behavior and act, many of them will be subjected to similar treatment, maybe in a different format. We never can tell.
And why should someone choose to ridicule a woman all because she has no child.
For crying out loud, It’s not the end of the world!
Many of them wanted children but they were never given the blessing. And, motherhood is a blessing, just as all parenthood is.
They have no children. But, they have a mother’s heart. They may not have children not in the natural sense but in heart -they are every bit a mother.
They love like a mother. They sacrifice like a mother. They serve like a mother. They give just like a mother gives.
And, if God were to celebrate Mother’s Day, I think He would include them in the celebration.
Because in God’s way of doing things, it’s always about the heart.
Always be mindful of what you say, for your words are nothing but a reflection of your heart.
