Nigeria In Darkness: National Grid Collapses Again

Published on

The National Grid has once again collapsed, leaving the country in complete darkness.

The Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) reported the development in a tweet on its profile, urging Nigerians to be patient.

AEDC wrote, “Hello, please be informed that there has just been a national grid collapse causing an outage in our franchise areas. We apologize for the inconvenience caused and appeal that you bear with us while we await restoration from the TCN. We regret all inconvenience caused.”

Also, in a statement signed by Abdulazeez Abdullahi, the head of corporate communication, Kaduna Electricity, the firm said, “We regret to inform you that the current outage being experienced in our franchise states is due to a collapse of the national grid. The collapse occurred at about 6:29 pm this evening.”

Despite promises from the Federal Government that it was taking steps to remedy the issue, the latest collapse is the third in less than a month.

The grid’s management, the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), also announced last month that it had devised alternate grid management methods.
