No Matter The Trials, Stand Firm In Faith

Tuesday of the 6th week of Eastertide

Acts 16:22-34
Ps: 137(138):1-3,7-8
John 16:5-11

Our faith is usually tested in tough times in trials. That’s when whatever we believe in is put to the test. That’s also the time when we will know how much trust we have in God to help and-save us. In today’s first reading, as Paul and Silas were praising God with their songs, the prison shook to its foundations and doors were thrown open, even the chains in their hands fell off. This amused the jailer and the prisoners too. The gaoler got converted together with his household and that was celebrated in joy.

Only God can do such a wonder. Out of an ugly situation, God brings beauty and glamour. Like the psalmist tells us today, “ you stretch out your hand and save me, O Lord. Save us O Lord for we need you. We need the Holy Spirit to renew the face of the earth. Through, the Holy Spirit, impossibilities become possible.

Though there is hostility on Christians, docility to the actions of the Holy Spirit, will set us free from within. Call upon the Holy Spirit today, follow God’s commands and He will save you from distress. So in tough times and tribulations, what do you do – hold firm to your faith or complain?

PRAYER

May God help us to hold firm to our faith in the face of trials and tribulations and may He give signs and wonders of His might and power and save us in our pain. Amen.
