Obasa Claims Meranda Agreed To Resign As Lagos Speaker

Published on

Mojisola Meranda reportedly consented to step down as Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly at a peace conference, according to Mudashiru Obasa.

In January, Meranda took Obasa’s place as Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly.

He said that Meranda agreed to resign as speaker at a peace conference of Lagos State leaders, notwithstanding the former’s rejection of his dismissal.

“There was a meeting that took place in Marina where we had in attendance all the party leaders and all the members [of Lagos Assembly] and openly Meranda herself made a statement that she has stepped down and she has resigned,” Obasa said on Thursday’s edition of Channels Television’s Politics Today.

“So, when you resign from an office, you know,  the paraphernalia of office will be taken away now,” Obasa who represents Agege 1 Constituency said.

But on Thursday evening, the police said Meranda’s security aides have been restored and cited a personnel audit as a reason for the withdrawal.

In my opinion, Obasa has been a lawmaker for 18 years. I think it’s high time he resigns and allows someone else come on board. We are eagerly awaiting this drama’s conclusion.
