Esther 4:17
Matt 7:7-14

Women are the most beautiful creatures God has made. In today’s first reading, we meet a lady called Esther. It was said ithat Esther was so beautiful that when King Xerxes was looking for a new queen, “she won his favor and approval” (Esther 2:17). So, he put a crown on her head and made her queen of his kingdom.

One thing Esther was known for was her courage. She was a young woman who took action to save her people, even though she knew it might mean death for herself. And what was that? Esther had neglected to tell her new husband -Xerxes that she was a Jew even though she had won his love and earned the trust of some of his court attendants at one point or another.

At a moment she did not know what to do. She just turned her worries into prayer and that was how she sends a message to Mordecai and later on she approached the king. God put into motion His plan for the Jews to be spared from destruction. In the same way, we may not see how God’s agenda is unfolding in our lives.  Yet we can ask Him for the courage to do what He calls me to do.  If my goal is to bring glory to God, He can do a mighty work through me

Our prayer life has the power to move us beyond our limits. God surprises us even in our humble request for He is an Awesome God who grants to His children exceeding graces and blessings. Like Esther let us call on people to pray, fast and give alms in this Lenten season so that God will deliver our nation from her presence political and economic challenges. On the day I called you answer me O God.

Any courage I can generate in my flesh is likely to fade away fast.  God is the source of my courage.  If I want to be brave, it’s going to come as I read and meditate on His Word, and spend time with Him in prayer.  And just like Esther, I can ask others to pray with me and for me when there’s a difficult situation ahead.

Like Esther let us call on people to pray, fast and give alms in this Lenten season so that God will deliver our nation from her presence political and economic challenges. On the day I called you answer me O God
