President Buhari Commissions First Oil Drilling Site In Northern Nigeria

President Muhammadu Buhari has officially launched the Kolmani Integrated Development Project (KIPRO) on the border of the states of Bauchi and Gombe.

Buhari commissioned the groundbreaking ceremony for Kolmani Oil Prospecting Leases (OPL) 809 and 810 at the Kolmani field site today, on November 22, two years after oil was discovered in the area in commercial volume. It would be the region’s first oil drilling site.

Oil was found in the state in commercial quantities after NNPC began exploring some Northern States in 2016.

Over a billion barrels of crude oil are stored in Kolmani fields, which might significantly increase Nigeria’s oil reserves, which have not increased in ten years.
