Prince Harry will be allowed to dress in his uniform tomorrow evening, on Friday, September 16, in a special tribute to the Queen.
According to The Mirror, the Duke of Sussex has been granted special permission to don his military uniform for a vigil for the late monarch being laid to rest in Westminster Hall.
The eight grandchildren of the Queen, including Harry and his brother Prince William, will observe a 15-minute moment of silence tomorrow evening next to Her Majesty’s casket.
Harry was at the center of a dispute about whether he would be permitted to wear his Blues and Royals uniform after serving in the British army for ten years, including two tours in Afghanistan.
Palace officials are said to have intervened after it was revealed that his uncle Prince Andrew, who is no longer a working royal, had been granted special permission to wear his uniform at a vigil over the Queen’s coffin attended tonight by her four children, despite being barred from doing so at previous ceremonial events.
According to a royal source, “Common sense has prevailed.
“It was a ludicrous situation given the Duke of Sussex has served his country and is a highly respected member of the armed forces with everything he has done for veterans.
“It is important that the Queen’s grandchildren are all made to feel welcome and comfortable as they grieve their beloved grandmother together.”
The guard of honor tomorrow evening is expected to include the Queen’s other grandchildren, including the Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie, Zara and Peter Philips, Lady Louise and James, Viscount Severn, and others.
