ARE WE WHAT WE CLAIM TO BE?

In today’s gospel, the Sadducees came to Jesus to put him to the test. This group did not believe in the resurrection of the dead and Jesus called them “greatly misled” because they did not know the scriptures or the power of God.

Eternal life in God is far more important than human institutions or ideologies. Saying this to religious leaders must have been challenging! We are not told how the Sadducees reacted, but in such confrontations, humans often respond with aggression.

Do our human pride and ignorance block the possibility that we may be wrong? Do we trust in God and accept all of His teachings? Are we true to our beliefs and do we believe in Christ’s promises?

God is the God of the living and the dead, and Christ’s word promises life after death and eternal life to those who trust in Him. He wants us to share the Good News with others so that all who believe in Him will be saved.

PRAYER

May God help us to continue to look to Him and remember all the promises which He has made in regard to blessing us in the past, presently, and in the time to come. Amen.
