In the current Gospel passage, while Jesus was addressing the crowd, he was informed of His mother and brothers seeking to see him. His response deviates from conventional expectations, as He queries, “Who is my mother? Who are my brothers?”
He then extends this idea by declaring that those who fulfill the will of His heavenly Father are akin to his family. He articulates, “Here are my mother and my brothers. For whoever does the will of my heavenly Father is my brother, and sister, and mother.”
The acknowledgment of all individuals as members of a unified family requires the grace of God. Today, as recipients of God’s mercy, clemency, and love, we are similarly called upon to extend these virtues to one another.
GOD, WHO WERE PLEASED TO GIVE US THE SHINING EXAMPLE OF THE Holy Family, GRACIOUSLY GRANT THAT WE MAY IMITATE THEM IN PRACTICING THE VIRTUES OF FAMILY LIFE AND IN THE BONDS OF CHARITY.
