I’ve read this Gospel time and again, each time captivated by the word ‘resolutely’ that captures Jesus’s fierce determination. He didn’t just move quietly; He charged forward with boldness and unwavering resolve! Jesus knew the time had come to leave behind what He had accomplished. His mission was calling Him to new places, igniting action!

I can picture Him saying, “I’m going!” as the word of His journey spread like wildfire along the road ahead. Traveling can be a grind, we all know that—but imagine averaging 15 miles a day on foot while juggling your belongings! Meanwhile, His devoted disciples were out there hustling, spreading the news, and securing a warm welcome—a place to stay. The excitement in the towns must have been electric as many longed to see and hear Him in person.

What if Jesus had the chance to pause and connect with us? The townspeople understood the balance of commitment versus reward—setting up, serving, cleaning up, arranging sleeping spaces, and so much more!
But here’s the twist: Jesus was always on the move! Just as some towns decided not to welcome Him, some felt the sting of rejection and wanted to lash out, feeling furious that Jesus wasn’t welcomed. They were met with His rebuke, redirecting their focus back to the Mission and the Journey ahead.

It makes me wonder: Has God ever tried to make an entrance into my life, only for me to brush Him off? Am I truly investing my time in seeking the Lord? Am I ready to set aside my own pettiness, focus on others, and leave my ego and distractions behind? And when I throw my heart and soul into something, only to receive outcomes that fall short of expectations, do I find myself wanting to vent anger or criticize those who weren’t present?

Let’s reflect on these questions and not miss out on the journey that lies ahead!
