In honor of Nigeria’s 60th independence anniversary, on October 1, 2020, the Lagos State Government set a world record by creating the largest mosaic anniversary logo ever using 60,011 cupcakes.

Nigeria and Lagos were credited with breaking the Guinness World Record for creating the world’s largest anniversary logo out of cupcake mosaics as a result of the project.

Mr. Wole Olagundoye, the Managing Director of Outori Limited and the Lead of the Fly Africa Initiative, presented Governor Sanwo-Olu with the Certificate of the Guinness World Records for the Largest Cupcakes Mosaic at the Lagos House, Marina.

At the ceremony, Governor Sanwo-Olu was accompanied by other officials, including the Secretary to the Lagos State Government, Mrs. Folashade Jaji; Commissioner for Tourism, Arts, and Culture, Pharm. Uzamat Akinbile-Yusuf; Special Adviser to the Governor on Tourism, Arts, and Culture, Mr. Solomon Bonu; and his counterpart for the Sustainable Development Goals and Investment, Mrs. Solape Hammond.

Akinbile-Yussuf was cited as saying in a statement on Friday that ”putting Lagos State in the Guinness Book of World Records was a great feat which the State would leverage for other world records,” during the presentation.

Sanwo-Olu wrote in a post in response to the announcement, “I received the Guinness Worlds Record certificate holder for the “Largest Cupcake Mosaic (logo), at the statehouse earlier today.

“It is indeed heartwarming to have a place in world history.

“Nigerians have been known to be resilient and talented. We always thrive and stand out wherever we find ourselves, and whichever vocation or occupation we set out to do. A big congratulations to Messers Outori Limited and Fly Africa for this achievement.”
