Shocking: Texas Man Kept Son’s Body In Kitchen Since 2018

A Texas father has been arrested after police found human remains in his kitchen which he said were those of his son who died in 2018, according to authorities. During a welfare check, police discovered David McMichael, 67, held on to his son’s remains after he died in May 2018.

The Dallas Morning News reported that officers in New Boston, about 20 miles west of Texarkana, were called to McMichael’s home for a welfare check. When officers arrived at the home on Tuesday, March 29, police asked McMichael if he knew why police were at the home, and he “advised them it was because he had a body in his kitchen.”

Police found the skeletal remains of a man in the kitchen and sent them to a facility in Dallas for further examination. It’s not clear how he died or how long his remains were in the home. The remains were determined they may be of Jason McMichael.

David McMichael has been charged with the abuse of a corpse without legal authority. His bail had not been set as of the evening of Wednesday, March 30, and it was unclear whether he has an attorney.

The body has been taken for autopsy and further identification while Mr. McMichael is being held in the Bowie County jail.
