Published on

Temilade Openiyi, better known by her stage name as Tems, is a Nigerian singer who became the first African woman to sell over 10 million singles in the United States.

According to chart monitoring website Chart Data, her joint single “Wait For U,” which she co-wrote with Future and Drake, has reached the 10-million-unit sales milestone in the US.

Now, the song can be certified a US RIAA Diamond. After Wizkid, who accomplished this accomplishment with his collaboration with Drake on “One Dance,” Tems is the second African musician to do so.

With many Platinum certifications for her other singles, including “Essence,” “Free Mind,” “Higher,” “Me & U,” and “Found,” the “Love Me Jeje” crooner is currently the best-selling female African artist in the United States.

Congratulations to Tems on this incredible achievement! Wishing her continued success and many more milestones ahead!
