The Lord Who Calls You To Himself Has Also Given You His Spiritual Gifts. Exercise Them!

Romans 12:5-16
Luke 14:15-24

If Jesus were to ask you today to leave everything and follow him, what would be the hardest thing to leave?

In today’s scripture readings, Saints Paul and Luke his companion remind us, that we are called, and we have been given the gifts we need.  Oftentimes, we spend a lot of our earthly life seeking temporal goods, and more often than none, we make our worries and fears take the best of us. We have excuses for everything concerning the spirit, the kingdom of God but no excuse for any business transaction or acquisition of wealth. We could go all the way to receive honors and recognitions and yet we mostly forget to whom all honor and adoration is due. The fact is that God still calls us to himself and expects us to share his gifts is his initiative. His ultimate gift to us is his divine life in his son given to us sail at the Eucharistic table. Do I appreciate the gift of Christ to me? Do I value all the spiritual gifts and benefits that I have? Or am I waiting for God’s verdict, His wrath?

I pray that I can recognize my gift(s), and freely share those with all, and anyone in my life today, whether at school, on the way, on the pulpit, or in writing this reflection.
