Three K!lled, Two Injured As Gunmen Open Fire On Farmers Harvesting Crops In Plateau

Armed assailants believed to be herdsmen have slain three agricultural workers and wounded two more in the Mbor settlement within Mushere Chiefdom, located in Bokkos Local Government Area of Plateau State.

This violent episode took place during the afternoon of Wednesday, October 21, 2025.

Kopmut Monday, serving as President of the Mushere Youth Movement, verified the occurrence to Daily Trust on Thursday, explaining that the assailants suddenly invaded the location and unleashed gunfire upon the laborers who were actively engaged in gathering their harvested produce.

The deceased individuals include Mr. Dashan Mo’ar, aged 32, Wamkey Mo’ar, aged 25, and Mrs. Kyelkes Dakup, aged 32, whereas Miss Joy Bumshak, aged 25, suffered from gunshot wounds and is currently undergoing medical care.

The President asserted that the perpetrators were inhabitants of Rongjing.

“They attacked our members in Mbor community while they were harvesting their crops, leading to 3 deaths and 2 gun injuries. The injured ones are in critical condition,” he said.

Monday went on to detail that the settlement had endured a comparable assault on May 26, during which seven people lost their lives.

“They have only just returned following the tragic incident in May, which resulted in the m8rder of seven individuals, injuries and several houses including two churches burned.”

Monday additionally revealed that the targeted settlement became abandoned after this most recent assault, urging security forces to station sufficient personnel in order to reestablish legal compliance and stability across the area, given that inhabitants are unable to resume their everyday routines.
