TRAGIC: 100 Level IMSU Student Dead After Being Struck By Lightning

A 20-year-old first-year student of the Imo State University Owerri, IMSU, was reportedly struck by lightning during a severe rainfall at the Obilubi Obazu Mbieri in Mbaitoli LGA of Imo State.

According to the DAILY POST, the victim, Chiamaka Obodo, was making a phone call inside her parents’ house when lightning struck, killing her on the spot before help arrived.

Residents in the community flocked to the location of the incident, raising tension in the area.

According to a resident, the 20-year-old undergraduate was inside when lightning struck in the community, killing her.

He stated that the lady’s body had been taken to the nearest mortuary.

Chiamaka was addicted to her phone, according to a family source, who stated that her body will be laid to rest on Friday, June 17th, 2022.

He said, “the lightning was like an electric spark and a heavy thunderstorm which shook the entire community and by the time we know it, people have been screaming in front of the deceased house after discovering that she has been struck by the lightning.”
