The two individuals, Abayo David and David Bori, both from Itedo-Ijowa, Isanlu in Yagba East LGA, were apprehended at approximately 4:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 8, 2025 by members of the Yagba West Hunters and Vigilante Group during a routine patrol.

The officials confiscated various items suspected to be intended for criminal gangs operating within the forest.

Adeyemi Babarinde Sunday, Chief Press Secretary of Yagba West Local Government Council, who confirmed the incident in a statement, stated that the arrests are in line with a local government directive prohibiting the sale and transportation of goods to criminals.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the suspects’ accomplices fled and are currently being tracked by security forces.

“Last week, an okada rider working for a bandit group was k!lled while attempting a similar delivery, highlighting the dangers of aiding criminal networks,” the statement read.

“Hon. Tosin Olokun, Executive Chairman of Yagba West LGA, warned residents, food vendors, and transport operators to refrain from assisting criminal elements, stressing that such actions jeopardize lives and weaken collective security.

“He commended security agencies for dismantling several criminal hideouts and urged continued vigilance and cooperation from citizens.”
