Two police officers were killed when gunmen stormed the Umunze Police Station in the Orumba South Local Government Area of Anambra State.
According to information obtained, the gunmen broke into the station early on Monday, September 16, 2024, firing randomly into the air before forcibly entering the building.
While some areas of the property were set on fire by improvised explosive devices, the police officers were shot dead.
Five detonated IEDs were found at the scene by joint security personnel, according to SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the State Police Command spokesperson who verified the occurrence.
The PPRO reports that there is an ongoing manhunt for the arsonists and a clearance operation on a known criminal camp in the region.
