Students of Nnamdi Azikiwe University (Unizik) and local residents near the university in Awka, Anambra State, carried out mob justice on a suspected armed robber allegedly caught attempting to steal from a student’s lodge.

The suspect was reportedly apprehended with a firearm around 11pm on Friday, June 6, prompting students to take matters into their own hands.

The individual was said to have tried to forcibly enter a student’s lodge at Teezers Junction, close to Unizik’s school gate in Ifite Awka.

A video shared with LIB depicts a crowd assaulting the man, with one individual visibly wielding a cutlass.

Students recording the event can be heard pleading on behalf of the suspected thief.

“It’s enough,” one voice begged while urging her lodge mates to lock the gate to prevent the mob from entering their lodge.

Another video shows the alleged robber lying on the ground, covered in blood across his body.

After the assault, the students turned him over to security officials, according to a source.

A Gentle Reminder: Every obstacle is a stepping stone, every morning; a chance to go again, and those little steps take you closer to your dream.
