Vinicius Jr., a winger for Real Madrid and Brazil, won the FIFA Best Awards’ Men’s Player of the Year title.
After he and his team boycotted the recent Ballon d’Or event, when Manchester City’s Rodri took first place, the 24-year-old made a victorious return by accepting the coveted award during the ceremony in Doha.
Real Madrid won both the Champions League and La Liga in 2023–24, and Vinicius was a key player in that campaign. The Brazilian star’s significance to the team’s success is shown by his 24 goals and 11 assists in all competitions.
Barcelona midfielder Aitana Bonmati solidified her supremacy in women’s football earlier in the evening when she won the Women’s Player of the Year award for the second year in a row.
For Vinicius, this victory marks his first FIFA Best accolade, following in the footsteps of Lionel Messi, who won the award in the previous two years, and Robert Lewandowski, who claimed it twice before that.
Congratulations Vini! More Wins!
