“We Are Planning A Merger Peter Obi’s Labour Party,” Kwankwaso Tells BBC

Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, the Presidential Candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), has stated that he is in talks with Peter Obi, the Presidential Candidate of the Labour Party, ahead of the 2023 Presidential election.

The prospect of a merger between the NNPP and the LP has recently been rumoured for several days and the former Kano State governor has acknowledged the plans to unite with the labour party in an interview with the BBC.

He said, “Honestly, I am In talks with Peter Obi and my committee members are also working tirelessly to do the needful regarding our merger with the labour party.

“We are looking into the matter to see how we can cooperate with him and also now that family and friends have also been talking to us about that possibility.”

Kwankwaso also stated that combining with the Labour Party is very important at this critical time, especially given the fact that neither the PDP nor the APC chose their running partners from the South-East.
