A woman who identifies herself as a witch, and who received payment for casting a curse on conservative commentator Charlie Kirk in the period leading up to the fatal shooting that claimed his life at Utah Valley University, has declared that her magic is “effective,” although she refrained from directly asserting any responsibility for the outcome that led to his demise.
The shooting incident, which took place amid a Turning Point USA gathering, has ignited broad-based outrage against political violence throughout the United States. Law enforcement officials are persisting in their efforts to locate and apprehend the perpetrator.
This tragic event comes on the heels of a Jezebel publication that appeared just days prior to Kirk’s death, bearing the title “We Paid Some Etsy Witches to Curse Charlie Kirk,” which outlined the writer’s acquisition of various spells from individuals presenting themselves as witches via the e-commerce platform Etsy. Among the spells procured were a “MAKE EVERYONE HATE HIM” hex along with a “POWERFUL HEX SPELL,” encompassing one crafted by a practitioner referred to as Priestess Lilin, who provided a video depicting the incineration of Kirk’s photograph.
Priestess Lilin, who jointly operates the Etsy storefront StrixSisters, informed Metro that although she engages in both white and black magic practices, she refrains from rejoicing over the taking of a life but maintains confidence in the potency of her magic whenever it synchronizes with broader collective energies. The establishment has garnered 45 five-star ratings from customers regarding its offerings.
Jezebel appended an editor’s note to the initial article in the aftermath of Kirk’s death, denouncing the shooting and emphasizing that it in no way supports political violence. Josh Jackson, serving as president of Jezebel’s parent entity Paste Media Group, portrayed the original composition as satirical in nature and crafted as a counterpoint to Kirk’s provocative and contentious statements.
Kirk, recognized as a vocal backer of President Donald Trump, sustained a gunshot wound during his campus engagement on September 10, 2025. The investigative team persists in following up on clues amid the continuing pursuit of the individual responsible for firing the weapon.
