With New Samsung Collaboration, Xbox Set To Reach 3 billion Players

Xbox has said that it hopes to expand its player base to 3 billion players worldwide with its new Samsung collaboration.

The collaboration, which was announced last month and released to the public on June 30, brings the Xbox app to 2022 Samsung Smart TVs and lets Xbox Game Pass Ultimate members access more than 100 high-quality games, including Xbox Game Studios. Allows easy and quick access to the same-day title that they release.

Speaking in a new interview with NME, Gus Grimaldi, Head of Product Europe at Samsung Electronics, and Pav Bhardwaj, Senior Global Product Manager for Xbox Game Pass, discuss the new partnership, explaining how they hope it will boost Xbox’s player base.

“We’ve said for a while that we want to reach 3 billion gamers worldwide and I think Xbox Game Pass and cloud gaming really opens that up,” Bhardwaj said.

[It] allows people to play games on multiple devices with a community of millions of people around the world and it also increases product availability in countries where you might not have previously been able to play or access Xbox in that region.

“It really opens up the choice and accessibility of Xbox Game Pass.”

The quality of service on Samsung Smart TVs was also discussed during the interview. Bhardwaj noted how the team was “very conscious of ensuring that latency was as low as possible” for gamers.

“We set such a high benchmark with Xbox console and PC Game Pass and the PC experience,” he said, “we need to make sure that every device we go on with Game Pass is really high quality.” And so, working with Samsung over the two years, I wouldn’t say it was a challenge, but the level of quality was really important to us.”
