Zacchaeus – The Tax Collector

Published on

Faith can push people to do something extra ordinary in order to meet Jesus for a desired favour. In Luke 19:1-10, Zacchaeus who though was a rich little tax collector made extra effort to catch a glimpse of Jesus who was to pass the way that day. As soon as Christ got to the sycamore tree where he was.. He told him to come down and He will be pleased to stay in his house.

Zacchaeus was a sinner and he repented of His sin. This pleased the Lord and He went with Zacchaeus to his house. When we have faith we are inviting Jesus to come into our heart.

When we repent of our sins, the Lord is pleased. Heaven rejoices over the conversion of a lost soul. Salvation came into the house of Zacchaeus because of repentance and faith in Jesus. The people of Jericho, felt that the one they thought they could do without was the one who held the key to their salvation. We firmly believe that our salvation is inextricably bound up in our relationships to one another, because we believe that how we love others, especially the other – how we love the other is how we love God.

Therefore, salvation comes to us through our baptism and our constant conversion to God. We cannot be Christians only when it suits us. We must be ready at all times so that when the master returns he will find us ready and pure. Do not grow lazy but imitate those who through faith and patience, are inheriting the promise .…Hebrews 6:12
