Most people are drawn to a high profile charismatic leader. The one who commands the energy and environment. They are the ones who get the headlines and the attention. They’re the ones whom the people want to serve. But if we listen closely and watch carefully, we can see Jesus being a leader who wants to serve. Someone so humble. You see, the same Lord who calm the storm and spoke to the crowds is the Lord who washed feet and died on a cross and held children in his arms and cured the lepers when it wasn’t customarily correct.
Jesus is the ultimate source of wisdom and He is the one teacher from whom we can learn how to live our lives in humble service to our neighbor and humanity. First of all, humility is the virtue that makes us realise that God is first and above and we are all the same. Despite of ones’ position in life, it does not give us the right to be arrogant and put ourselves above others. Anyone who thinks they are better than anyone else in humility is only fooling himself. The first will be last in the kingdom of God. The meek shall inherit the earth and God will lift up the humble. Do not let the vanity of this world block you or trick you into missing out on what Jesus is calling you to. Jesus is the heart of the gospel and to him, we must direct our focus and the focus of others as well.
