Gunmen have abducted the mother of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Kano central senatorial candidate, A.A Zaura.
Hajia Laure Mai-Kunu, the politician’s elderly mother, was kidnapped in the early hours of Monday (today), June 6, before the Muslim call to prayer, The Punch reports.
Engr. Abdullahi Garba Ramat, Chairman of the state’s Ungogo local government, verified the occurrence, and stated that security officials had officially informed him of the incidence.
He stated that Hajia Laure was kidnapped at her residence in the local government’s Rangaza ward of Zaura village.
The public relations officer of the Kano state police command, SP Haruna Abdullahi, while confirming the incident said the incident happened around 2 am on Monday (today).
Abdullahi added that the command had since mobilised its operatives with a view to rescuing the victim and arresting the perpetrators.
