Bola Tinubu, the presidential candidate for the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, was intentionally absent from the signing of the Presidential Peace Accord on Thursday, according to Senator Dino Melaye, spokesman for the Atiku Abubakar presidential campaign.
While the Labour Party’s Peter Obi, the People’s Democratic Party’s Atiku Abubakar, and other party candidates were present in person at the Abuja event, Tinubu was represented by his running mate, Kashim Shettima.
The APC’s candidate is reportedly in London, United Kingdom at the moment, according to rumours that surfaced on Thursday, as he is allegedly attending to a health issue.
Dino Melaye, responding to Tinubu’s absence, posted a video on his Facebook page in which he claimed to know the reason for the ex-governor of Lagos’s absence, however, failed to mention the reason.
He said, “I noticed that Bola Ahmed Tinubu is the only presidential candidate who was absent at the signing of the National Peace Accord today. He was obviously was obviously the only one absent.
“I know why he was absent. Unfortunately, there was no provision for thumbprinting. You definitely have to sign. Atiku signed and that is all I have to say.”
