Immerse Thyself Into Jesus The Fountain Of Life And Salvation; The Help For The Hopeless And Hope For The Helpless.

Ezekiel 47:1-9,12
John 5:1-3,5-16

In the Old Testament water symbolizes God’s blessing and drought signifies a curse. In the first reading from the book of the Prophet Ezekiel, the prophet had a vision of scene of water that gushes forth from the Sanctuary. From the illustration, He seeks to have Ezekiel wade into this waters, at some point the waters are at the level of Ezekiel’s ankles, at another time on his knees, and yet at another point, on his waist. At this last moment, Ezekiel can not wade through the waters, unless through swimming. This magnificent river flowing out from the temple  was life-giving and healing.

The passage from Ezekiel is linked to today’s gospel story of the healing of the invalid who had been waiting for the waters to move. Can you imagine waiting 38 years to be healed? How long have you or other members of your family have been waiting to be healed or liberated from something.  Do we want to  be well?  Are we willing to do the things that we need to do to become well?  If you are concerned about your own health and well-being, bring your anxiety and concerns to the Lord.

Christ is the spring of living water, the fountain of life and salvation. He came to earth and offered himself to be baptized in the River Jordan for our righteousness and the gushing water that flows from his side on the cross of Calvary offers divine mercy into the hearts that accept his salvation.Yet, as it is in the case of Ezekiel who wades through water that are at various levels; and so it is with our salvation; it is a gradual process in which we should daily immerse ourselves until we get to the point of swimming in it!

In this regard, the Church offers us a contemporary Pool of Bethesda, the Confessional, the Sacrament of Penance, through which we can always enter and get healed of our spiritual illnesses! Whatever you need today, Jesus can do it for you. The key to your breakthrough is within your reach. Change your thinking from this is “the only way for me to be healed”into “God can save us In unlimited ways”. Let your faith flow in the waters of Baptism; immerse yourself into the water of regeneration and don’t lose hope. Jesus is the help for the hopeless and hope for the helpless. Never despair! God helps us at all times.

May you begin to grow this day and every day and experience newness of heart, mind , body and spirit in Christ’s Jesus our Lord. Amen.

Peace be with you!
