The chairman and CEO of the Ineos chemicals firm, Sir Jim Ratcliffe, has expressed interest in purchasing Manchester United from Glazers.
According to talkSPORT, Ratcliffe wants to invest in the team with the intention of eventually gaining complete control if the Glazers will agree to welcome new investors.
The Ineos billionaire’s spokesman indicated that Ratcliffe would be delighted to speak with the club’s American owners about his interest.
“If the club is for sale, Jim is definitely a potential buyer,” the spokesman said.
There are recent reports that the Glazer family is now willing to sell Manchester United.
According to American publication, Bloomberg, the infamous Red Devils’ owners are considering selling a small portion of their ownership in the team as the pressure grows from the fans.
According to the article, the Glazers have had some early negotiations over the prospect of recruiting a new investor.
However, they are unwilling to give up control of United, which may be worth $5 billion.
