Acts 25:13-21 Psalm 102(103):1-2,11-12,19-20 John 21:15-19
In today’s Gospel, we witness a powerful moment as Jesus calls upon Peter to feed His lambs and tend His sheep. But what does this profound directive mean for us in our fast-paced, technology-driven world?
Pope Leo, from the very start of his papacy, has boldly highlighted the importance of faith. He warns that a lack of belief leads to a “loss of meaning in life, neglect of mercy, appalling violations of human dignity, and a crisis within families.” His words are a rallying cry that resonates deeply in our society today.
Pope Leo is already stepping into the role of a shepherd, challenging us to embrace our missions to nourish one another with the sustenance that truly matters—deep connections and love in a world overwhelmed with superficial distractions. Just as Christ called Peter, we are invited to embark on a “daily journey of conversion,” filled with fidelity to the Lord and the urgent mission of spreading the Good News.
Imagine taking a moment each day to pause, reflect, and soak in God’s presence. This isn’t just a ritual; it’s an essential part of our transformative journey!
Think about all the ways you could reach out—tending to your spouse, nurturing your children, uplifting friends, or supporting coworkers. Let your prayers ignite passions for racial, economic, or environmental justice! Some of us might be called to listen compassionately to the lonely, offer guidance to a young pregnant woman, or simply be there for a grieving mom or child; or to the man who has lost his job or to the employer who needs counsel in his relationship with his employees or to the leaders who needs to serve his people or to the citizen who needs to render his service to humanity in love.
God’s call can even lead us to champion the rights of immigrants and refugees, fight for healthcare and housing for all, and stand against war and environmental destruction. Are you ready to take a stand against issues like the death penalty or policies that harm our communities?
Let God craft your “grocery list” of how to nourish His lambs and sheep. If you stay attentive, He will illuminate your path!
