Karim Benzema Wins UEFA Player Of The Year

Published on

Karim Benzema, the captain of Real Madrid, has won the UEFA Player of the Year award.

The Frenchman took up the award ahead of Manchester City’s Kevin De Bruyne and teammate Thibaut Courtois.

Benzema led all scorers in the Champions League with 15 goals scored in the tournament.

The 34-year-old is also the overwhelming favourite to win the Ballon d’Or later this year.

Madrid won the LaLiga title last season, finishing 13 points ahead of Barcelona, thanks to a large impact from Benzema.

He has scored 35 goals in 37 appearances for Carlo Ancelotti’s side, as the team won four titles last season.
