Oluremi Tinubu, the First Lady of Nigeria, encouraged religious leaders to refrain from condemning governments at all levels and instead concentrate on praying and offering advice on Monday, October 21.
The president’s wife made the announcement at the opening ceremony of the four-day African Biblical Leadership Initiative International Conference, which will take place in Abuja.
Several African and European politicians, as well as international Christian leaders, attended the ABLI initiative with the subject “Value-based leadership model for Africa.”
Oluremi Tinubu, who was represented by the National Coordinator and Chief Executive Officer of the New Partnership for Africa’s Development, Princess Gloria Akobundu, stated that today’s leadership has several problems, particularly in Africa.
She advised religious leaders to teach peace and follow Christ’s example by fervently praying for leaders in authority rather than abusing them.
She said, “To our spiritual fathers, I urge you to build and foster peace and Development as well as to pray for the government. Let us not curse, insult and castigate the government. Rather, speak the truth to the leaders and conscience of our citizens.
“Let us not equate ourselves to God, nor take His place, knowing fully well that God can use anybody to achieve his purpose and fulfil His agenda here on earth. Africa is at a crossroads, facing numerous challenges that require effective leadership.
“As Christian leaders, we must embrace a value-based leadership model that reflects the teachings of our Lord Jesus Christ. This model must be built on justice, integrity, wisdom and social harmony.”
A Gentle Reminder: Every obstacle is a stepping stone, every morning; a chance to go again, and those little steps take you closer to your dream.
