Moses Korede Are, fondly known as “Baba Gbenro,” was a renowned Nigerian gospel actor, evangelist, and filmmaker who devoted his life to spreading faith and hope through drama and film.

Born on June 11, 1959, in Oyo State, Nigeria, he spent his early years in the northern part of the country, growing up in Kano State.

He completed his primary education in Kano, his secondary education in Plateau State, and pursued his tertiary education in the western part of Nigeria.

Baba Gbenro’s deep passion for the Christian faith was evident in his dedication to gospel movies, where he brought various roles to life with remarkable conviction.

Guided by values such as love, unity, and compassion, he touched countless lives globally through his impactful storytelling and drama ministry.

His passion for drama and ministry led him to establish the Calvary Movies Drama Ministry, where he served as the International President and Chief Executive Officer of Calvary Movies Television.

Under his leadership, the ministry became a prominent platform for spreading the gospel through Christian drama.

Evangelist Moses Korede Are wrote and produced numerous Christian films and also starred in many, including the popular Mount Zion series, Abattoir, where his portrayal of Baba Gbenro earned him widespread recognition and admiration.

He was married to Bamike Rebecca Are, and their union was blessed with two children. Even in his final days, he continued filming new episodes, showcasing his unwavering commitment to his ministry.

Moses Korede Are passed away on November 14, 2024, at the age of 65. His death is a significant loss to the gospel film industry, but his legacy endures through the countless lives he impacted and the inspiring body of work he left behind.
