1 Timothy 4:12-16 Psalm 110(111):7-10 Luke 7:36-50
EXPRESSING A PROFOUND LOVE FOR GOD
In today’s powerful first reading Paul fires up Timothy with a vital reminder: what we say and do matters, especially in public! As Christians, we’re not just going through the motions—we’re representatives of God and His teachings, and our lives should reflect that commitment. Timothy, the dynamic bishop of Ephesus, is called to lead by example, showing naysayers that he is a devoted servant of the Gospel.
Then, in the Gospel reading, we encounter a gripping scene! Jesus is dining with some Pharisees when an unexpected woman, known for her questionable reputation, boldly enters and anoints His feet with her tears, wiping them with her hair. The guests exchange disapproving glances, but Jesus sees deeper—He recognizes her profound love and devotion, contrasting it with the lack of respect shown by the host.
This encounter challenges us to examine the essence of our actions and attitudes. Are we reflecting Christ in our daily lives, especially toward those around us? It’s easy to fall into negative labeling, but we can choose to rise above it! How do you respond to criticism? May God continually shower us with His divine love and forgiveness so that we, in turn, can spread that love to others and glorify Him.
