ST. BARTHOLOMEW, APOSTLES, FEAST
READINGS
1st Reading: Apocalypse 21:9-14: He showed me Jerusalem, the holy city coming down from God out of heaven.
Resp. Psalm: 145: Your friends, O Lord, make known the glorious splendor of your reign.
Gospel: John 1:45-51: You will see heaven laid open and the Son of Man.
REFLECTION
All the readings for today’s feast talks about heaven. Heaven is the prize and we must not lose our focus. While Bartholomew was seeking spiritual enlightenment under the fig tree, Philip invited him to meet the Messiah from Nazareth. And so he asks, can anything come from Nazareth? After Christ revealed his thoughts, he proclaimed Christ as the Son of God. May we too have an inner deposition to seek for things above where Christ is. Amen.
Pray for me as I celebrate my birthday today.
