Yahaya Bello, the governor of Kogi state, stormed out of an APC governor’s meeting after allegedly being asked to step down in favour of a Southern candidate.

The governors of the APC have rejected Senate President Ahmad Lawan as the party’s consensus candidate, preferring instead a candidate from the South.

According to sources, Yahaya stormed out of a meeting with his colleagues after being asked to step down for a Southern candidate. Yahaya is also vying to be the party’s presidential flagbearer in the 2023 presidential election.

He was also said to be enraged by the party’s choice to designate Senate President Ahmad Lawan its consensus candidate for the presidential election in 2023.

It is said that APC will likely choose a presidential candidate during the party’s 3-day convention, which began today and will end on Wednesday, June 8th.
