Blessing John, an 18-year-old female, was apprehended by the Adamawa State Police Command while reportedly attempting to sell a youngster she abducted to ritualists.
The suspect allegedly lured the child (name withheld) from her Michika neighborhood and carried him to Mubi, looking for a potential customer.
DSP Sulaiman Nguroje, a spokesperson for the command, confirmed the event to Daily Trust, saying the culprit was apprehended after receiving information.
According to Nguroje, the girl informed police detectives that she kidnapped the boy in order to get funds to purchase a ride and live a lavish lifestyle.
He said, “She took the little boy to Mubi to sell, but when she could not reach the buyers on phone, she decided to search for another buyer. She ended up talking to the wrong person, who in turn informed the police.”
The spokesman stated that the 18-year-old girl met a kidnapper on a recent trip to Mubi after a friend informed her she could make money by giving children to ritualists and human traffickers.
He, therefore, warned that parents should keep an eye on their children and report strange people or movements to the nearest security post.
