AFCON 2025 Qualifier: Super Eagles Stranded At Libya Airport

The Super Eagles are currently stuck in Libya, where they are scheduled to play the second leg of the AFCON 2025 Qualification match.

Both teams were due to play again in Benina, their fourth Group D encounter, after Libya’s 1-0 loss to Nigeria on Friday, October 11, in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.

On Sunday, October 13, the Super Eagles departed from Nigeria and traveled to the nation in North Africa.

The Super Eagles’ chartered plane, however, was on its way to Benghazi, according to Promise Efoghe, the team’s media officer, until it was rerouted to Al Abraq, a city that is more than two hours’ drive from Benghazi.

The Super Eagles’ means of transportation to their destination was not provided by the Libyan government.

The NFF reportedly faced host annoyance, forcing them to devise a backup strategy. The players and officials of the Super Eagles will now go to Benghazi by road.

Videos that were made public by the NFF on Sunday night depict authorities and athletes from Nigeria attempting to settle the dispute at an airport in Libya.

It was reported that the airport gate had been locked to keep them out.

It is believed that the Libyan government is taking this action to try to frustrate and exhaust the Super Eagles before the match.

A Gentle Reminder: Every obstacle is a stepping stone, every morning; a chance to go again, and those little steps take you closer to your dream.
