Pope Leo XIV has again, condemned terrorist attacks in Nigeria, urging authorities to protect lives amid rising violence nationwide.
Pope Leo XIV has expressed sorrow over recent attacks on communities in Nigeria, describing the incidents as deeply troubling and deadly.
In a post on X on Sunday, the pontiff said he received the news with “sorrow and concern,” noting that the violence had led to “a heavy loss of life.”
He added, “I express my prayerful closeness to all the victims of violence and terrorism,” as he joined Nigerians and the global community in mourning those affected.
Pope Leo XIV also called on Nigerian authorities to sustain efforts aimed at protecting citizens across the country.
“I likewise hope that the competent Authorities will continue to work with determination to ensure the safety and protection of the life of every citizen,” he said.
The message, shared with the hashtag PrayTogether, comes amid ongoing concerns over insecurity and repeated attacks on civilian communities in parts of Nigeria.
