Akpabio Accuses Natasha Of Attempting To Embarrass Nigeria

Senate President Godswill Akpabio has charged Kogi central’s Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan with misrepresenting the truth and seeking to disgrace Nigeria by attending the United Nations Inter-parliamentary conference in New York on Tuesday, March 12, where she claimed the Senate suspended her due to her sexu@l harassment allegations against him.

During the Senate plenary session on Thursday, March 13, Akpabio condemned the Kogi senator for attempting to “embarrass the upper chamber by presenting a misleading narrative to the international community.”

“I am aware that she distorted the facts and globalised the matter, embarrassing the Senate by giving a different narrative. I appreciate Hon Kafilat for clarifying to the international media that what was presented was completely different from the reality.

She brought the matter before the Senate through a petition but did not allow us to examine it. Instead, she took it to court and later to the international community. Actions like these could discourage politicians from appointing women into key positions.”

Akpabio, who addressed the chamber after receiving a vote of confidence from his peers, encouraged senators to keep their attention on their legislative duties and steer clear of diversions that might disrupt the Senate’s efforts.

“I thank you for this vote of confidence. Let us stay focused and avoid unnecessary distractions,” he said.

A Gentle Reminder: Every obstacle is a stepping stone, every morning; a chance to go again, and those little steps take you closer to your dream.
