Amotekun Foils N150m Ransom Payment In Ondo, Rescues Five Victims

Personnel from the Western Nigeria Security Network, known as Amotekun Corps in Ondo State, have successfully freed five individuals from kidnappers within the state.

The Amotekun Commander for the state, Adetunji Adeleye, shared this information during a press briefing on Wednesday, May 14, 2025, in Akure, noting that the rescues occurred on May 6 and 10 without paying the N150 million ransom demanded by the kidnappers.

Adeleye clarified that the rescues stemmed from a directive issued in recent months allowing security forces to conduct operations in the state’s forests.

He mentioned that four of the victims were abducted at Iromeh along the Lagos-Ore Expressway on May 10, with the kidnappers demanding N100 million.

“The four victims were kidnapped by four men, but within a few minutes of the occurrence, our distress line was called and we mobilised men to enter the forest,” he stated.

“The fifth victim was kidnapped on Ikare-Owo Road on May 6th, but was rescued without paying one kobo despite the machete cuts inflicted on him. His kidnappers demanded N50 million.

“He is receiving attention at our medical facility. We acted on credible intelligence and we assure the people that we will act promptly and treat any information in strict confidence.

“Officers and men of Amotekun are already on 24 hour patrols, while our rangers are already in the forest to ensure prompt response to any credible information.

“The Ondo State Government is doing everything to ensure the safety of lives and properties of its residents. We are committed to ensuring zero tolerance to crime, kidnapping and armed robbery,” he added.

A Gentle Reminder: Every obstacle is a stepping stone, every morning; a chance to go again, and those little steps take you closer to your dream.
