APC Chair Slams Governor Otti’s Leadership: “One-Man Show” Lacking Accountability and Transparency

In a scathing critique, Abia State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Kingsley C. Ononogbu, has faulted Governor Alex Otti’s leadership, describing it as a “one-man show” driven by propaganda rather than purposeful governance.

Speaking at the inauguration of the state chapter of the Renewed Hope Partners, Ononogbu lambasted the current administration for lacking accountability, transparency, and proper institutional checks and balances.

A Government in Disarray

According to Ononogbu, the governor is running the state from his private residence, while pushing plans to convert the newly built Government House into a luxury hotel. “Abia today is nothing but a one-man show anchored on a well-oiled propaganda machinery. Accountability is long gone. Checks and balances are non-existent, and conflict of interest has become the norm,” he stated. The APC chairman also revealed that over N34 billion has been spent in 23 months under the subhead: GOVERNMENT HOUSE, further fueling concerns about the administration’s priorities.

Misleading Portrayal of Abia

Ononogbu criticized the portrayal of Abia on social media, saying it is misleading and disconnected from the lived reality of citizens. While acknowledging some improvements in road infrastructure, he maintained that the process of awarding contracts remains below acceptable standards, lacking proper coalition, scrutiny, and transparency.

A Call to Action

Despite his criticisms of the state government, Ononogbu praised President Bola Tinubu’s administration, highlighting achievements such as fuel subsidy removal, student loan programs, improved federal allocations, and infrastructure developments like the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Road.

He called on Renewed Hope Partners to help educate citizens on the president’s reform efforts, emphasizing that the president has dealt a deadly blow to economic parasites and placed Nigeria on the path of sustainable growth and development.

A Message to Aggrieved APC Members

Ononogbu also used the platform to call on aggrieved APC members in Abia State to return to the fold in the spirit of reconciliation. “Do we want to win at the federal level and lose Abia State? No,” he emphasized. He urged all Renewed Hope Partners to formally join the APC, describing the party as the vehicle to a better future for the state and the country.

The Future of Abia

As the Renewed Hope Partners embark on their mission, one thing is clear: the future of Abia State hangs in the balance. Will the APC’s criticisms lead to meaningful change, or will the current administration continue to prioritize propaganda over purposeful governance? Only time will tell.
