Benue Govt Declares Public Holiday Ahead of Tinubu’s Visit

A public holiday has been declared for Wednesday, June 18, 2025 by the Benue State Government.

According to the government, the holiday is being observed to commemorate President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s formal visit to the state.

In response to the recent atrocities on Benue State, Tinubu had declared that he would shorten his planned visit. The President is anticipated to visit the state for a one-day condolence visit to express sympathy to the Benue government and people over the recent wave of violent attacks that have claimed many lives, according to a statement signed by Serumun Deborah Aber, Secretary to the State Government.

The government explained that while the vacation is meant to allow citizens to greet the president with warmth, the directive excludes workers in essential services, including medical personnel, security agencies, and banking institutions.

“Residents across the state are encouraged to come out in large numbers to welcome the President and his delegation during what has been described as a significant and symbolic visit,” the statement added.
