Bovi Retracts And Apologizes For Parenting Comments

Bovi Ugbomma, a Nigerian comedian and actor, has changed his mind and expressed regret for his remarks regarding gentle parenting.

As previously reported by Gistreel, the actor had pushed for parents to train their kids using the gentle parenting method. Bovi had claimed that he doesn’t abuse his kids during an appearance on the Honest Bunch Podcast.

Additionally, he revealed that anytime his son gets upset, he breaks their televisions. Instead of punishing him, he lets him be.

However, many Netizens were offended by this, accusing him of rearing a violent youngster who was emotionally unstable.

Bovi later expressed regret for his remarks in a tweet on Tuesday on X, formerly Twitter. He urged them to get in shape.

He wrote, “I don go trigger angry people because of the phrase I used . “For the fun of it”. Make una no vex. In trying to color my point, I’ve offended a shallow mob. You don’t have to agree with me. If you have children you want to beat, enjoy. My papa no physically beat me and I turned out almost ok.”

Netizens have continued to air their opinions and register their displeasure with Bovi’s school of thought.

Here are some of the reactions.

@Neduzzy said, “Breaking tv 3 times is sure sign that you have failed in whatever you are doing in the name of training your child. That’s a high level of anger issues”

Another tweep, @winnerbennaba, wrote, “I’m glad you acknowledge that you “turned out almost ok”. Apparently, you’re not totally okay.”

@DamilareOdulesi stated, “Except what you said in that podcast was another comedy talk, allowing your kids to keep misbehaving because they are kids is absolutely out of it.
