On Saturday, February 12, men from the Ogun State Police Command arrested Kehinde Oladimeji, 43, and his wife Adejumoke Raji, 35, for having fresh human parts in their possession.
The couple, who live at 72 MKO Abiola Way in Leme, Abeokuta, was apprehended after a report was filed at Kemta Divisional Headquarters by one Chief Moshood Ogunwolu, the Baale of Leme Community, who stated that one Pastor Adisa Olarewaju, a co-tenant with the suspects, told him of unpleasant smells emanating from the suspects’ room.
Following the complaint, DPO Kemta Division CSP Adeniyi Adekunle dispatched his officers to the area, where they carried out a search. A plastic bucket containing fresh human body parts was discovered in the room during a search, and the couple was detained immediately.
During questioning, the suspects admitted that they were herbalists and that the human parts, which included hands, breasts, and other body parts, were provided to them by one Michael, who they claimed lived in Abeokuta’s Adatan neighborhood. All attempts to locate the aforementioned Michael were unsuccessful because the suspects were unable to locate his residence.
The police stated that a mutilated body of an unknown person was discovered in a marshy area near Abeokuta a few weeks ago.
The state police command’s spokesperson, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, confirmed the arrest, saying that the state commissioner of police, CP Lanre Bankole, has ordered the suspects to be immediately transferred to the Homicide Section of the state criminal investigation and Intelligence Department for further investigation.
DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi went on to say that the CP has promised to prosecute anyone who was directly or indirectly involved in the crime as a warning to others.
