Deborah Samuel: Charly Boy Leads Protest Against Jungle Justice In Nigeria

Charles Oputa, popularly known as Charly Boy, a Nigerian artist and activist, has vehemently opposed the use of jungle justice in several parts of the country.

Charly Boy made the statement while organizing a demonstration condemning the brutal murder of Deborah Samuel, a female student at Sokoto’s Shehu Shagari College of Education, for supposed blasphemy.

The singer demanded that the government take immediate action to address Nigeria’s jungle justice system.

He said, “We can’t pretend that our sensibilities have not been assaulted by so much bloodletting happening all over our country.

“If poverty, hopelessness, hunger and the indiscriminate killings of our sons and daughter can not unite us, what will?”

Reverend Samson Ayokunle, President of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), said on Sunday that the Christian group will not rest until Deborah Samuel’s murder is adequately addressed.

According to him, the organization is doing everything possible to make sure that the perpetrators of the heinous crime are brought to justice.
